Mid-January 2016 Newsletter
Hello, and a spectacular mid-January to you!
Welcome, or welcome back, to my newsletter.
In the photo above I'm in a favorite natural setting. I don't remember why I was
looking up, but I love the optimism and anticipation on my face. Do you too believe
our future will be even better than our past?
Today's issue has an article on energy medicine.
Enjoy!
What is energy medicine?
|
The term "energy medicine", or "energy healing" is used to refer
to alternative medical or therapeutic practices, as opposed
to the more invasive traditional methods of surgery, radiation,
or pharmaceutical drugs. It includes many vastly different
modalities, from body-work like massage to aromatherapy to
mind-body therapies like EFT ("tapping"). What they all have
in common is using the body's own energy to help itself heal.
Traditional western medicine is more often focused, I hate to
say, on suppressing troublesome symptoms.
Energy medicine practitioners often harness or recommend
Nature's energy to facilitate the healing process. This could be
be an essential oil to soothe a headache or ease inflammation,
or walking outdoors and spending time with a big sturdy tree
to calm anxiety. Many times a re-balancing of the body's own
energy is all that's needed. This could mean revving up a
sluggish metabolism (or attitude!) with some gentle exercise, or
soothing a rushing frantic approach with meditation. No drugs
might be necessary at all.

In this rush rush, hurry hurry society, I've found it essential to
adjust my body pacing so I can get through my day without
exhausting myself, yet can still be productive. I remember talking
with a gym buddy years ago who had a FedEx job delivering packages
during the busy holiday season. He said "I sprint, then I rest". Even
a high-performance car needs to stop for refueling! We do too.
Another central principle of energy medicine is that we can pick up
the negative energy of others, if we're not paying attention. I'm sure
you've been with a grumpy friend or family member and felt your own
energy slumping. Or you've been around someone nervous, and realized
you were becoming anxious, even though her problem wasn't yours
at all! My energy medicine teacher
Deborah King
trains us to ask, about an uncomfortable or unusual feeling,
"Is this mine, or is it theirs?". Often this alone is enough to
let the emotion move away from you. Mom was anxious, you weren't!
So pay attention to your energy, your life force, your spirit, your
"juice". If it feels like your fuel indicator is dipping, don't
grab for that stimulant without checking in with your body and
your feelings first. Maybe all
you need is a little movement, like a brisk walk! Pretend you're an
energy medicine practitioner who heals people naturally, since we're
all natural healers. What would you prescribe for your most important
patient, yourself? You know what you need, if you get quiet, go
within, and listen.

Would you like an email consultation with me?
Many people have a question or concern about their vision
condition, or want help with a puzzling dream, yet don't feel
the need for a full hour's coaching session with me. For folks
like this, I've now added an Email Consult service, for much less
than my hourly rate. To take advantage of this, click
here.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
Do you want your own copy of future newsletters?
If a friend forwarded this to you, or you're reading it from
Facebook or LinkedIn, this is a hit-or-miss method of receiving
it, and you might miss it next time. If you'd like to be on my

Please send me your comments
Let me know what you've wondered about concerning vision or dreams
or energy medicine, and I'll be glad to write a future article on
that topic. Thank you to those who see a question you asked me in a
private session written about here. You're helping many other people!
Enjoy the second half of your January.
I'll write again in a few weeks. Take care!
