January 2025 Newsletter

Hello, a joyous January to you, and an abundant 2025!
Welcome, or welcome back, to my newsletter. Today's issue is about visual feedback. Enjoy!

What visual feedback are you receiving?
man squinting at a small piece of paper This first month of the brand-new year of 2025 is about looking ahead to the future, yes, and also about looking back on how we got here and taking stock. I've written about this topic before, here. Building on what I've already accomplished in my many years of vision improvement progress, including the mistakes which taught me a lot, I'd now like to continue to guide my eyesight to become more flexible and responsive to the circumstances in which I find myself.

When it's a clear sunny day and I'm walking outdoors, I feel expansive and happy, my eyesight easily reaching out to connect with the details in front of me. The feedback I'm receiving is that I can see pretty well, which makes me feel great. In contrast, when facing what Dr. Bates called difficult or challenging visual conditions, my visual energy may not flow as easily. These conditions could be low light, or tiny print, or even a loud distracting noise like a siren. Dr. Bates writes that this type of situation is actually good for the vision, with the caveat that you stay relaxed. Remember, visual strain is the problem.

darkness scene Meir Schneider, the well-known vision teacher from San Francisco, emphasizes learning to adapt to different levels of illumination, to keep the visual system healthy and functioning optimally. People can depend on sunglasses when it gets too bright out, or immediately turn on lights in the house when it starts getting dark. This doesn't give the visual system a chance to naturally adapt. When going for a walk after dark, I'm always surprised to see how few people are out, and how those that are often carry a flashlight. It seems to me that the streetlights at every corner, as well as the lights from the nearby houses, provide plenty of illumination.

What feedback do I receive when it's harder to see well? First, to slow down. Rushing has been one of my worst habits, and I tend to rush more when I get anxious, as if I'm trying to get past the uncomfortable feeling as quickly as I can. Going more slowly is completely opposite to my automatic reflex behavior. When I can manage to calm myself and breathe more deeply, then proceed at a more unhurried pace, I usually find I can see well enough, whether driving in rain or fog, or walking after dark, or even when viewing a smaller lower line on the eye chart.

blurry then clear letters On the other hand, when it's easy and comfortable to see, with the images clear and vivid, I don't want to take that for granted. It's bitter cold here today so my walk outdoors wasn't too satisfying, all bundled up with my hat and hood cutting off a lot of my peripheral vision, so I kept moving my head around. When I got back indoors, I spent some time with the eye chart, with the sunny window behind it, and got several satisfying clear flashes. This will always be special to me, proof that my eyes know how to see well. Also, the slight bouncing of the letters if I'm relaxed enough is quite soothing. Vision is such a gift! This kind of feedback, when I'm seeing clearly, makes me want to keep looking.

Please notice the feedback your own visual system is giving you. Are you happy, so people are smiling back at you, sharing their own joyful energy? If the view is clearer than you're used to, are you appreciating that, and your well-functioning visual system? If what you see is blurry today, could you be straining to see, instead of welcoming the images? I've found the state of my vision to be an accurate reflection of my emotional state, telling me whether I'm tired or well-rested, calm and peaceful or stressed. If I can't see as well as I want to, it's not necessarily true that I need glasses, or stronger ones; maybe I just need a nap! Listen to what your eyes are telling you, then follow that guidance. Seeing well and being well go together.

Upcoming EFT series with a master teacher
My insightful teacher Dr. Carol Look, a founding EFT Master, is offering a 6-session series, The Yes Code In Action. This class will give expert guidance on breaking through blocks and gaining clarity on next steps. I can't recommend Carol's work highly enough. We had an Activation call to start us off in mid-December, and you'll get the replay of this when you register. Then we'll have 5 live sessions this month. Note that your own blocks and lack of clarity may be personal, professional, with finances, health, relationships, or in some other area. You can check out the details here. Hope to see you there!

Have you wondered if my work could help you?
I'm now offering complimentary Discovery Session consultations of 20 minutes or so, for us to discuss what you're looking for in a coach, and to see whether you and I feel like a fit to work together formally. To schedule your Discovery Session, click here.

Do you want your own copy of future newsletters?
If a friend forwarded this to you, or you're reading it from Facebook or LinkedIn, this is a hit-or-miss method of receiving it, and you might not see it next time. If you'd like to be on my distribution list, you can join here. You can un-subscribe at any time. Thank you!

Please send me your questions and comments
Let me know what you've wondered about concerning energy medicine or vision or dreams. I'll be glad to write a short article addressing that topic. Thank you to those who have sent me questions, or see a question you asked me in a private session written about here. You're helping many other people! Enjoy the start of this juicy month of January, and of the brand new year of 2025. I'll write again in a few weeks. Take care!
