Late October 2014 Dreamer Sight Newsletter

Hello, and a lovely late October to you!
Welcome, or welcome back, to my newsletter. The photo above is from a workshop where I'm laughing with a friend on a break. No, that bird is not perched on my shoulder -- he is a statue on the railing behind me. When is the last time you laughed out loud? Laughter is the best medicine, and it's fun!

Today's issue has 2 articles, one about asking for dream guidance, and one about EFT and releasing old hurts which may still be with you. Enjoy!

Dreams: Asking for a dream
Dreamm Owl Even people who don't pay much attention to their dreams have a vague sense that dreams are more than random brain static. Might there be actual helpful information coming through overnight? I believe there is indeed!

It's less well understood that we can program this guidance, that is, ask for a dream to help us with something specific. I've heard many anecdotes over the years about a person going to sleep with a problem on his or her mind, then waking with a solution.

Once when my partner was out of town on business, I asked for a dream of us since I missed him. I dreamed of us pushing a car up a hill! Sometimes the hill flattened out, then got steep again, so maybe this was something about our relationship challenges. I did get my request answered -- I just should have been more specific!

One last point: be open-ended with your dream question. Asking about something you don't really want to know, or expecting a yes or no answer, is less productive than "I'd like a clearer understanding of Situation X". Then have fun decoding the answer you get!

EFT: Might that old wound still be hurting you now?
crying child An unexpected strong reaction to a situation can be a tug on a string which has its other end deep in your past. EFT excels at unearthing these old hurts so you can soothe them, using the adult skills you didn't have back then. If you're nervous or resentful or feeling worthless way out of proportion to the event in front of you, my EFT teacher Carol Look might ask, "When was the first time you remember feeling this way?".
Perhaps a scene from childhood will pop into your mind of your mother giving your favorite toy to your baby sister -- how unfair! Or you think of an elementary school teacher who embarrassed you, making all the other kids laugh. These incidents are ideal "tapping targets" for EFT, to remove the strong emotional charge so you're no longer tripped up by this same string in your present.

In a recent session with my own coach, we worked on my feeling that "everyone else" (all-or-nothing thinking is a big clue that I'm not being rational!) gets help, while I have to do things on my own. We unearthed several cases where I was told to "set a good example" for my younger sisters, when I hardly knew what to do myself!

Yes, tapping removed the charge on this for me, and it could do the same for you. If you're unfamiliar with EFT, you'll find a brief description here, so you can learn a little more about it.
