Mid-December 2024 Newsletter
Hello, and a more-than-ever Mid-December to you!
Welcome, or welcome back, to my newsletter.
Today's issue is about forcing and pushing.
Enjoy!
Forcing and pushing don't usually work
|
Many of us were trained from a young age to go after our goals fiercely, with a "go big or go home" focus. We don't often consider the possibility that what we want could come to us without having to work hard for it.
Even if we see a peer accomplish something major without striving hard for it, we conclude they just got lucky, assuming that will never happen for us.
|
If our parents or teachers or coaches pushed us to achieve, we may have mostly accepted that, even if we grumbled about it. We knew that's how you get things done and move ahead in life, whether it be with chores or homework,
or eventually a career. Then we naturally took on that attitude and pushing behavior toward ourselves, since we had more goals we wanted to reach.
|
When I was younger, I bought into this striving mindset completely, unfortunately approaching my vision improvement this way too. I read book after book by famous vision teachers, as if cramming for a college final. I did some of the
relaxing practices like the
Long Swing
much too fast and too vigorously -- you'd think I was in a race! Rushing through my life and not fully enjoying my experiences has been a bad habit which needed to be broken, if I truly wanted to improve my strained eyesight.
|
This businessman frantically rushing, losing the papers from his briefcase, reminds me of my own earlier mindset when I worked for a corporation.
Other than my nearsightedness, the two personality traits I wanted so much to change back then were my tendency to hurry, and to worry. It was only when I learned more about
vision improvement practices and principles, with the heavy emphasis on relaxation, that I realized how connected all these negative habits were. With my anxious nature, improving my eyesight would
address my other "nervous habits" too.
|
Along this same line, one of my physical movement teachers often talks about being gentle with ourselves, since so many of us have pushed ourselves vigorously wanting some certain result, maybe building muscle, losing weight, or increasing our flexibility. If we push too hard, the body will rebel
by creating an injury or getting sick, which means we'll stop moving toward our goal. This teacher often talks about "persuasion, not force", encouraging and inviting the change we're hoping to create, not demanding it, approaching our precious body with an attitude of acceptance rather than attack.
|
When I first spotted those bumper stickers saying "Easy does it!", from drivers hoping to encourage others to slow down, I must admit I scoffed. I had places to go and things to do! Now I see the wisdom in it; going too fast is dangerous for yourself and for others too. Like anything important, vision improvement
can't be rushed either. I just finished shoveling our first snowfall from my driveway, an unexpected task which did interrupt my plans, but it was so nice to be outdoors in the cold wet air, using my muscles, watching the snow-free section of the driveway slowly grow. A large part of my vision practice now is simply enjoying seeing,
whatever I'm doing, inviting in and appreciating the clarity. Every view is to be savored. What's the rush?

Upcoming EFT series with a master teacher
My insightful teacher Dr. Carol Look, a founding EFT Master, is offering a 6-session series shortly, The Yes Code In Action. This class will give expert guidance on breaking through blocks and gaining clarity on next steps. I can't recommend Carol's work highly enough.
We'll have an Activation call to start us off on December 16th at 3PM Eastern, then 5 sessions in January 2025. Note that your own blocks and lack of clarity may be personal, professional,
with finances, health, relationships, or in some other area.
You can check out the details
here.
Hope to see you there!
Have you wondered if my work could help you?
I'm now offering complimentary Discovery Session consultations
of 20 minutes or so, for us to discuss what you're looking for
in a coach, and to see whether you and I feel like a fit to work
together formally. To schedule your Discovery Session, click
here.

Let me know what you've wondered about concerning energy medicine

that topic. Thank you to those who have sent me questions, or see
a question you asked me in a private session written about here.
You're helping many other people!
Enjoy the rest of this dreamy month of December, and of 2024.
I'll write again in a few weeks. Take care!
